Jantar Mantar


Jantar Mantar is an observatory that was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of the kingdom of Amber in the year 1737. Maharaja Jai Singh had a deep interest in science and astronomy, and this was one of the five observatories that he built across the kingdom. It was used to study local time,altitude, planets as well as eclipses.

The Ramnagar Fort


The Ramnagar Fort is a fortification located on a scenic location on the eastern bank of the Ganges. Opposite the fort is the Tulsi Ghat that is named after the great sage Tulsidas who lived here and penned the Ramcharitmanas. The Ramnagar Fort was influenced by the Mughal style of architecture and was built in 1750 by Kashi Naresh Maharaja Balwant Singh.

Tulsi Manas Mandir


Tulsi Manas Mandir is an important pilgrimage and tourist spot in Varanasi, and holds great historical importance. It is said that it was at this place where the Ramcharitramanas, the Hindi version of the Sanskrit epic Ramayana was written. The temple is constructed in white marble with engravings of different scenes of the Ramcharitramanas incorporated throughout its walls.
